Women are so talented. It is still a mystery to discover why and when the world became a patriarchal society. Ancient artifacts from the beginning of mankind reveals lush and veluptuous women’s sculptures. For many centuries women were considered 2nd class. We were merely the servants of men until finally in the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, they began to gain back what they deserved – the right to be what they are and the freedom to choose.
Connecting Women is a wonderful organization. Very talented woman from the Netherlands and around the world are gathered together to help each other develop their own business. I received the chance to give a jewelry workshop to 20!! of these marvelous independent women and to let not only their business talent show but also their creative side. At the workshop we would be creating the “Tree of Life” pendant using gemstones and wire.
The tree of life is one of the most ancient symbols of human kind. It can be found in almost every religion and culture. The Mayan believed in a magical place on earth called Tamoanchan in the center of which stood The world tree which grew at the locus of creation, all things flowing out from that spot into four directions. It stood in the Garden of Eden. Sumerians and Babylonians had a Tree of Life which was the ‘navel of the world’. In Egyption mythology, the first couple are Isis and Osiris. They have emerged from the acacia tree of Iusaaset, which the Egyptians considered
the tree of life.
Egyptians considered the Tree of Life to be the tree in which life and death are enclosed. The direction. East was associated with the direction of Life, the direction of the rising Sun, and the direction West was seen as the direction of death, of under-world, because Sun sets in the West. Even the Nordic culture had its’ own. In the Kabbalah (The jewish occult practice) the tree of life symbolizes the complex formula of existence. Studying it will allow a man to become better and spiritually evolved. (Taken

A Tree of Life in various religious interpretations, within myths, and as a mystical concept represents the interconnectedness of all life on our beautiful planet. The Tree of Life connects all forms of creation. The Tree of Life is considered to be the symbol of ‘Creator‘.
Creation is the basis of everything. Women were always part of creating and creation. What a celebration of talents and beauty it will be! I am really looking forward to it! You can still join!!
On April 1st (and no it is not a joke) we held a mini workshop to 6 women. It was a huge success!! Amongst them women that never made jewelry before. The trees were marvelous! Below are a few photos taken at that evening! Looking forward to giving this humongous workshop (so many women! so much creativity!)
